The 18-hour ELTA training courses are in both online and in-person
Online courses
The online courses include both asynchronous and synchronous formats.
◆ Asynchronous courses
- Each online course is 2 hours in length. Applicants must complete 5 asynchronous online courses (10 hours total), including 3 required courses and 2 electives.
- “ELTA Program Overview,” “Increasing Student Talk Time” (including teaching experiences sharing), and “Hands-on: Activity Design and Development” are required.
- An additional 2 elective courses must be completed from the list provided below.
- Each course has three quizzes, which must be completed as proof of attendance.

◆ Synchronous courses
- Applicants must participate in both synchronous course sessions for their full duration (4 hours in total).

Micro-teaching ( in-person )
Applicants who have finished the online courses requirements will be notified by email and invited to participate in a teaching demonstration. The micro-teaching component is divided into two phases and will take 4 hours in total.
1. Phase I:
Teaching material preparation. This phase includes the preparation of materials and discussions before teaching. Applicants may discuss appropriate teaching materials and teaching methods with other applicants and advisors.
2. Phase II:
In-person teaching demonstration and feedback. During this phase, applicants are asked to provide a 20 minute teaching demonstration by modeling and role-playing their teaching as if they were in a classroom for other invited applicants and a panel of advisors. Following demonstrations, there will be an additional period for feedback and discussion from both peer applicants and advisors.

1. Incomplete applications will not be processed.Submitted documents will not be returned to applicants at any time.
2. The project team reserves the rights to modify the content of the program, and to change, suspend, or cancel the program. If there are matters not covered, the project team will make amendments at any time, and announce these changes on the website.
